Yvonne Erskine

Yvonne completed her Masters of Education in Counselling Psychology at UBC in the fall of 2006, and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her research experience includes working in mood, hypertension and health psychology. Her current research interests are in female sexuality and health, and her counselling interests are in sexuality, grief, trauma, loss, and mood. Yvonne will also be starting a private counselling practice in the near future, and will see clients who are seeking help in the areas of grief, sexuality and trauma.

Morag completed her BSc in Biology in 2003 and her BA in Psychology in 2007. Her research focuses on acculturation and sexuality, and the differences in attitudes between Asian Canadians and Caucasian Canadian women. Morag will continue her studies in sexuality when she starts graduate school in September, 2009.

Jane Woo is PhD student in the Clinical Psychology program at UBC. She decided to pursue this career path after working as a corporate banker and realizing that her fascination with culture & sexuality outweighed her interest in finance. Her primary area of interest is the interaction of culture with sexuality and how both of these factors interact to impact health, health behaviours and quality of life.

Erin graduated this year from the University of British Columbia with an Honours degree in Psychology. She has many research interests in areas such as sexual development, gender studies, and the influence culture has on one's sexual identity and sexual health behaviours. She is looking forward to continuing her studies and research in the field of human sexuality.

Melissa graduated with a BA in Psychology from Carleton University in 2006. Her research interests include the examination of sexual arousal and investigating the efficacy and effectiveness of psychoeducational treatments for individuals presenting with sexual dysfunction and a history of sexual abuse. She looks forward to continuing her studies and pursuing further research related to sexuality and trauma.

Cici Zhu

Visiting Medical Student Researcher
Cici has a Bachelor of Science honors degree, and is going into her third year of medical school at Queen's University in Ontario .  While working to become a physician, she also maintains a deep interest in research, having experience in maternal obesity and pediatric obesity disorders. She is very excited to be now working in the field of sexual medicine, and hopes to continue to do research with sexual disorders and treatments for sexual dysfunction in the future.

Rosemary Basson is a Clinical Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of British Columbia and the British Columbia Centre for Sexual Medicine in Vancouver, Canada. She trained in Internal Medicine, gained Membership into the Royal College of Physicians UK in 1973, and then worked in Family Medicine in Deep Cove, North Vancouver . In 1987, after completing a UBC Fellowship in Sexual Medicine, she focused her career entirely on human sexuality.

Vickie Yau

Vickie holds a Master's degree in Asian Studies and has coordinated a number of research studies various faculties such as Education, Speech Science, Social-Psychology and Medicine. She is assisting with coordination, translation and community liaison for a large project that seeks to improve the understanding of ethnic differences in Pap testing rates. She is also training interviewers to conduct interviews for this project.
