residents' day 2011

The annual Obstetrics and Gynaecology Residents' Day was held on June 17. Residents and staff participated in sailing, kayaking and golfing activities during the afternoon, followed by a dinner and awards banquet in the evening at Sage Bistro on the University of British Columbia campus hosted by Dr. Geoff Cundiff. We were lucky enough to have one of the few days that have given us summertime weather so far this year, followed by a tremendous turnout for the dinner.
The following is a summary of the resident award winners that were announced at the evening reception:
AAGL Award – Dr. Hanna Ezzat
Hamilton Wadham Award – Dr. Hanna Ezzat
Ray Vaughan Award – Dr. Erin Adams
G.W. Erle Mitchell Memorial Award – Dr. Paul Yong
2011 CFRI Research Trainee Award for Outstanding Achievement by a Resident – Dr. Paul Yong
The residency program would like to send a big thank you to Drs. Henry Woo and Peter McComb for the use of their boats which departed from the Vancouver Yacht Club and also to Deep Cove Kayak and Musqueam Golf Course who hosted our kayaking and golfing activities. Thank you as well to the staff and management at Sage Bistro, Dr. Cundiff for acting as emcee, Drs. Catherine Allaire, Petra Selke, Marketa Gogela-Spehar and Elisabet Joa for presenting the awards and graduation gifts and last but certainly not least, to the graduating Chief residents for the always entertaining video presentation.
We wish the graduating Chief residents – Erin Adams, Stephanie Johnson, Hanna Ezzat and Paul Yong -- the best of luck in the future. We could not be happier and more proud for them.
